7th August
Georg Scherer Graffiti workshop
We had another one day workshop in Dachau sports' hall. This one was very different from the usual concept of workshops. Firstly, we attended a presentation about biography of a Dachau local hero. His life story is very motivational and inspirational. He was born into a very poor family without a father. From early age he had to have a job in order to feed his sister and mother. As a young man, he was involved with Socialist party which is why he was a Dachau concentration camp political prisoner. After a while he planned a rebellion that actually succeeded and became a very important face in politics as well as in economy (he even opened clothes factory after some time) in Dachau after 1945.
Later, our task was to make Graffiti on a wall of an old factory in his honour. The instructors showed us some techniques and let us practice a little. Just before we were supposed to actually complete the task, heavy rain started and lasted for more than an hour. We went back to the hostel, but at least we had a lot of fun and learned something new.
In the evening, we had some free time, so I took a long walk with my IYM Spanish best friend through the forest and took some time to discuss camp and start saying goodbye.
